God...is that story familar, you have to face it no matter WHAT a potential partner says, if there are kids and an ex in the equation you'll always come way down the pecking order.
Forget whatever he/she says actions speak louder than words........the kids, ex, hobbies, job etc will always take precedence and you (being child free) are expected to understand and tolerate that behaviour.

Sod that NEVER, EVER...... again
