Dear Michael and others, single fathers do not get off scot-free, at least not in California. Here, they must pay child support or be jailed. They can't run from the law because their wages will be garnished. Child support payments are quite high. A man who pays child support is horrible to date because he never has any money because of his child support. If he has custody 1-2 days a week, that is what he does in his spare time. So, a woman can forget a nice Saturday night out, alone with this man. He will always have an excuse to put his kid first, even if they are an adult. I dated a man with a 23 year old daughter. She did not live with him. Every time he made a date with me, he'd break it at the last minute, because he'd 'have to' give her the money that was for our date or he'd have a date with her. By the way, nobody in any category necessarily 'has it easier' than anyone else.
