I have had two occasions in which I used the RU486 pill. The first time I was given one pill at the clinic, then given 2 or 4 (sorry can't remember) to take home and insert inside myself up against my cervix. I was 9 weeks at this time, so the cramping and bleeding was profuse and the entire process of cramping, bleeding and miscarrying took about 8 hours to be finished, followed up by another 6 weeks of bleeding like crazy. The second instance, I was 4 weeks along and again was given one pill at the clinic and this time was given 2 pills to take orally at home the next day. I am not sure if it was because of the fact that I wasn't as far along as the first time, but this time the cramping, nausea and bleeding were much more mild. I took the pills and didn't even need the painkillers. I took tylenol 2 tabs every 3-4 hours and was back to my normal self in a day or two. The bleeding subsided with 10 days and that was it. Don't believe what people tell you about seeing "pieces" or anything, you aren't going to see anything of the sort, it is much akin to your period. Bear in mind that the farther along you are in your pregnancy, the more difficult the process is, but it doesn't compare to the horrors of a suction abortion. The medical abortion as it is called, cannot be performed past 10 weeks, so if you intend on having this done, time is of the essence and it is much more comforting to be allowed to do this in the privacy of your own home. I regret doing it, but I didn't want to have children and got pregnant while on the Nuva Ring and another time using CONDOMS and the NUVA RING.
