You sir, are a certifiable madman! I just read through the entire story and am still wiping tears of laughter from my eyes.

Good on you for sticking to your dream. Don't ever let up.

My first vanning experience happened in a Ford like yours in the 70s. Since then, I've had many vans and am actually working on a Chevy G10 right now.

I'm way over on the left coast so will probably never meet you but I'm with you in Vanner spirit brother.

PS: That cowboy hat needs rhinestones!

Hi. I just read your amazing story on finding your old van. Here's some more info on it: I was a close friend of the original owner/builder of Cloud Dancer. The original owner's name is Nick Ligouri. he lived in Toms River, NJ. The paint work was originally done by Ted Walters, of TRIX Auto Body in Manasquan, NJ. I took part in building/modifying the original 302 engine that was in it. We used to show the van on the pro circuit up and down the east coast. It had a completely chromed under carriage at the time that we would install for shows, the remove for driving. It had fully chromed brakes, hardware, etc. I haven't seen Nick in many years, and he still owned it last time I saw him. He was a very gifted artist with the glass etching and unicorns. We built the van in the back room of Van Iderstine speed and sport shop on Rt. 35, Sea Girt, NJ. I had a set of glass end tables in my home that Nick did a full Unicorn on in glass etching to match the ones on the van, but they are long gone many years ago. I hope you have a great time with the van. It seems like you love it as much as we did. Take care buddy :)

Just finished reading your story as I'm on a heating pad recovering from lower lumbar fusion myself. Very entertaining and colorful story. I even saw the corner of my van in one of the pictures from 2014 Nats. Don't recall seeing you there but would like to shoot the shit with you sometime. Will you be coming to any of the Pennsylvania eVANts coming up. Keystone Madness in three weeks? Email me so I know to keep an eye open for you.

I just read the whole web page. Cool story and photos. This reminds me of all the customized van models I built as a high schooler. I always liked the vans that were constructed with a theme, any theme!

Good luck with your ongoing restoration and your trips down memory lanes. :!cool:

Hey Chris, I just looked at all your pics and read the whole story. If anyone fits the real meaning of a dedicated vanner it's you my friend!!! Thanks for sharing your story. It was an inspiration to me because I have always wondered whatever happened to my '77 chevy van. All I currently have is a pic which shows the plate number after I sold it back in '83 or '84. If you can possibly help me locate it, I would be more than grateful. I owned and sold it in New York. Thanks, Tom C.

Cloud Dancer reply: Tom: Thanks soooooo much for your email message. YOU actually just gave me a good idea. I JUST added a crappy little 'guest book' to my webpage. This way, people can post comments/questions. I hope you don't mind, but I posted your message as the first entry to test it out. I don't expect to get much traffic to the site, but I figured why not.

As for your question.. YOU previously owned the van.. so start with the VIN number.. If you don't have it, contact your old insurance company. I kind of laid out the method I used to track down my van on my website.. so try and follow my very vague instructions.. but if i can help out, just let me know.. but that VIN number will help you tremendously!!
